Melon’s winning application featured two of our most popular Windows Phone applications – GPS Voice Navigation and Speed Cameras. The latter was recently included into GPS Voice Navigation’s latest update as a new feature of the ever-growing navigation app (while also remaining on the market as an autonomous free application).
The awards ceremony was held in Sofia, Bulgaria, and awarded 13 of the most innovative Bulgarian digital companies in 18 different categories. The jury consisted of eight distinguished Bulgarian IT professionals, headed by Sasha Bezuhanova, Director Public Sector for Growth Markets at Hewlett-Packard. They had to evaluate a total of 162 applications.
A little more about our winning entry:
GPS Voice Navigation for Windows Phone provides turn-by-turn voice driving navigation and is the only one on the market offering a choice of four map and routing providers: Google®, Bing®, Nokia® and MapQuest®. The application has spent weeks as the number one app in its category, travel & navigation, in markets such as USA, UK, Germany, Spain, France, and Italy thanks to its compelling feature set: map caching (for Windows Phone 8), driving instructions in eight languages, speed cameras and police traps information and warnings, 3D maps, night mode and more. Additionally, GPS Voice Navigation has spent over a year in its category’s Top 5 apps in key markets such as USA, UK, Brazil, Italy and Spain. The app also enjoys high customer ratings, which motivates us to continue updating it and making it ever more helpful.
Speed Cameras for Windows Phone alerts you of approaching speed traps, radars or speed cameras (fixed, mobile or traffic light). The application offers a preloaded database for the international road network in accordance with the latest official information and is automatically updated. For just three months after its official launch, the app was downloaded over 200,000 times.
As part of the application, we were also asked to point out three factors, which distinguish us from our competitors. This is a direct quote:
1. Melon works with a vast portfolio of web and mobile technologies and has an in-house design department specializing in the IT sphere.
2. Over ten years of win-win approach experience, helping us create a team of adaptable, ethical and result-oriented people.
3. We work in two business directions, through which we gather valuable practical experience:
We have achieved a symbiosis between offering custom software solutions and creating and managing our own product portfolio, focused on travel and navigation.
