“If you are a top user in Bulgaria, chances are you’re a total Stack Overflow rockstar,” Venturebeat recently found out analyzing data from Stack Overflow, the dominant Q&A platform for developers, with 3.5 million users

Actually, on this basis, Bulgaria has the best developer talent in the world.

Venturebeat analyzed the profiles of the top 14,898 users in Stack Overflow — all the members who have a reputation of 5,000 or more, which is considered an extremely high level. These rankings are determined by the perceived quality of answers to coding and systems questions.

The total score shows that Bulgaria has the highest average reputation in the world, meaning that the world’s best coders are concentrated in our location. 

The results are no surprise at all. For almost a decade now, the IT sector has been one of the fastest growing in the economy, generating 10% of the Bulgarian GDP. 

Recently, a bunch of other reports and stats highlighted that Bulgaria outperforms most of the other countries worldwide when it comes to outsourcing IT services. 

In 2014, Global Services Location Index™ A.T. Kearney ranked Bulgaria 9th top country and first destination in Europe for providing outsourcing activities, including software development and support. Clutch, a Washington DC-based research firm focused on the IT market, ranked Bulgaria 5th top outsourcing country. And most recently, the consulting company Cushman & Wakefield presented a detailed report covering 36 markets all over the world. According to that report, Bulgaria makes it to the top place as the best outsourcing destination in Europe and reaches the third place on the global scale. Compared to the report from last year, Bulgaria has made a leap going 11 positions up the outsourcing ladder.
